Back in February, we received an emergency call from a local farmer in Hope, Hope Valley, reporting a couple of fallen trees — including a large storm‑damaged Oak. With livestock fencing at risk and access blocked, they needed experienced tree surgeons in the Hope Valley on site quickly to make the area safe.
When we arrived at the farm in the heart of the Peak District, it was clear that the recent extreme weather had caused significant damage. Two sizeable trees had come down, one of them a truly impressive Oak that had stood for generations. The magnificent Oak stem, however, was far too special to waste. Instead, it was transported to a local wood mill in the High Peak, where it will be repurposed into something long‑lasting. Knowing that this outstanding old tree will live on in another form is one of the most rewarding parts of our work as arborists in the Peak District.
With the trees cleared, the farmer can now secure the fencing and keep livestock safe, restoring normality after the storm damage.
