Ash Dieback

We had a recent emergency call out to an Ash tree in Hathersage. This large Ash tree had lost a major limb in the high winds. Inonotus hispidus (Shaggy Bracket) was found on the limb and had eaten away at the heart wood, causing premature failure. The fungus inonotus hispidus, is a common wood-decay fungus that can greatly affect Ash trees, it enters the timber through wounds and can cause the heartwood to rot making the tree brittle which can then lead to structural failure. As well as the bracket fungus, the tree was also showing sins of die back, after an assessment the team carried out a heavy reduction to make the tree safe.
